An outbreak of influenza B among workers on an oil rig.

چکیده
An outbreak of influenza B occurred in December 1996 on an oil rig in Darwin Harbour. The outbreak affected 56% of the workers on the rig. An outbreak in December is outside the usual Australian influenza season of June to September, but is consistent with other tropical regions, where outbreaks can occur throughout the year. Influenza vaccination could prevent similar outbreaks in confined workplaces.

Isolation of H9N2 Subtype of Avian Influenza Viruses during an Outbreak in Chickens in Iran
Avian influenza is an important disease of poultry with the potential to cause major epidemics resulting in significant economic losses. The presence of avian influenza viruses (AIV) in chickens in Iran has not been previously reported. An avian influenza outbreak in broiler, layer and breeder farms occurred during a very hot summer in July 1998. Three AIV isolates designated as 101, 102 and 10...

Introduction: One major problem in analyzing epidemic data is the lack of data and high dependency among the available data, which is due to the fact that the epidemic process is not directly observable. Methods: One method for epidemic data analysis to estimate the desired epidemic parameters, such as disease transmission rate and recovery rate, is data ...
متن کاملKnowledge of Avian Influenza (H5N1) among Poultry Workers, Hong Kong, China
In 2009, a cross-sectional survey of 360 poultry workers in Hong Kong, China, showed that workers had inadequate levels of avian influenza (H5N1) risk knowledge, preventive behavior, and outbreak preparedness. The main barriers to preventive practices were low perceived benefits and interference with work. Poultry workers require occupation-specific health promotion.
